Waitlist privacy notice
Last updated 2 October 2026
This notice covers riar.ie and the waitlist. The Riar app isn't out yet. When it is, the app privacy policy covers it, and you can read that draft now.
Who we are
Riar is run by H. Ameh, Lyster Square, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, R32 CV97. We're the data controller for what you give us here. Questions go to privacy@riar.ie.
What we collect
- When you join the waitlist: your first name, your email address, that you confirmed you're 16 or over, which of the two forms on the page you used, and when you joined.
- If you used "Try it" first: the reminder types you picked from our list, so we know what to build first. Anything you typed yourself stays in your browser and is never sent or saved.
- Visit counts: daily totals of page views, demo uses and waitlist joins. Each count is a date, a page, an event and a number. No IP address, browser, device, referrer or identifier is recorded.
riar.ie sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, runs no ads or third-party analytics, and serves its own fonts, so no request goes to Google.
Why, and our legal basis
- Emailing you about the beta (when it opens, your invite, and a short optional form to help us pick a mix of 100 testers): your consent, given when you join (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a), and Regulation 13 of S.I. No. 336 of 2011). Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Choosing what to build first from the reminder types people pick: your consent, given when you join.
- Visit counts, to see whether the site works: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). They can't identify anyone.
Joining is optional and has no effect on whether you can use Riar later. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who handles it
- Lovable hosts riar.ie and stores waitlist signups and visit counts, on Supabase infrastructure in the EU.
- Google Forms, only if you choose to fill in the optional beta form we email you. Google may process those answers in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Nobody visiting the site can see who signed up. The site only ever shows how many of the first 100 places are left.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist details: until the beta opens and you've had your invite. If you don't create an account, we delete them within 3 months of the invite.
- If you unsubscribe: we delete your details straight away and keep only a one-way hash of your email address, so we never email you again by mistake.
- Visit counts: 24 months.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, object, or withdraw consent at any time. Email privacy@riar.ie and we'll reply within one month. Nobody under 16 can join; if we find we have someone's details who is under 16, we delete them.
If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, www.dataprotection.ie.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that matters, we'll email everyone on the waitlist. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
